Buescher Saxophones

A saxophone is an instrument played with a single reed. Although saxophones are made from brass, they are not part of the brass family. Saxophones are actually a member of the woodwind family of instruments. Saxophones are most commonly played in a jazz band, marching band, or even in a big band. The very first saxophone was invented in Europe in 1846.

The first saxophone created in the United States was manufactured by Gus Buescher. Gus started his own business in the year of 1895. It did not take long before his line of Buescher saxophones were recognized for having impeccable design and sound. The Buescher sax is still one of the greatest saxophone instruments available today.

In the early 1890s Gus managed the Buescher Manufacturing Company where Buescher saxophone instruments were produced. In 1904 after enduring many hardships, Gus renamed his company the Buescher Band Instrument Company. You can find vintage Buescher Band Instrument Company saxophones on the market today.
